Carbon Storage Potential of North American Oil & Gas Produced Water Injection with Surface Dissolution

نویسندگان

چکیده

Carbon dioxide (CO2) geological storage traditionally involves capturing a CO2 stream from point source such as power station or cement, steel, natural gas processing plant, transporting it and compressing it, prior to injection supercritical phase into suitable reservoir overlain by cap-rock seal. One of the main perceived risks in is migration leakage buoyant through seal, via faults fractures, other out complex. Injection dissolved water may be one solution mitigate risk. This approach could take advantage large volumes wastewater already being reinjected saline aquifers worldwide but particularly North America, thus reducing costs. study examines potential “piggyback” off existing industry novel carbon option.

simulation and experimental studies for prediction mineral scale formation in oil field during mixing of injection and formation water

abstract: mineral scaling in oil and gas production equipment is one of the most important problem that occurs while water injection and it has been recognized to be a major operational problem. the incompatibility between injected and formation waters may result in inorganic scale precipitation in the equipment and reservoir and then reduction of oil production rate and water injection rate. ...

consequence analysis of the leakage, ignition and explosion during high pressure sour gas injection process to the oil reservoir

there is no doubt that human being needs to become integrated with industry and industry needs to be progressed, daily. on the other hand, serious events in industrial units specially in oil industries has been shown that such damages and events are industry related ones. the consequence of such events and damages which resulted in chemical and poisoned explosions and loss of life and property ...

Multi-Decadal Surface Water Dynamics in North American Tundra

Over the last several decades, warming in the Arctic has outpaced the already impressive increases in global mean temperatures. The impact of these increases in temperature has been observed in a multitude of ecological changes in North American tundra including changes in vegetative cover, depth of active layer, and surface water extent. The low topographic relief and continuous permafrost cre...

An Experimental Study of CO2-low Salinity Water Alternating Gas Injection in Sandstone Heavy Oil Reservoirs

Several studies have shown that oil recovery significantly increased by low salinity water flooding (LSWF) in sandstones. However, mechanism of oil recovery improvement is still controversial. CO2 that develops buffer in presence of water is expected as a deterrent factor in LSWF efficiency based on mechanism of IFT reduction due to pH uprising. No bright evidence in literature suppo...

Gas-oil Ratio and Water-oil Ratio

An indicator of bypassing is a premature drop in gas-oil ratio; i.e., earlier than expected collapse of gas saturation. Early gas collapse (water fillup) may indicate that channeling has occurred. In layered reservoirs with no or little vertical crossflow, water injection in an initially depressurized layer will cause GOR to drop rapidly. Often naturally fractured reservoirs exhibit fast gas co...
